Midwest wine and food lovers raise your glasses and toast a decade-plus of wine tasting in Wichita with the 13th annual Midwest Winefest. Consumers and aficionados alike can “swirl, sniff, sip and taste” in this three-day event April 24-26, 2008. The Midwest Winefest is presented by Standard Beverage Corporation and the Wichita Chapter of The American Institute of Wine & Food (AWIF). The event seeks to educate attendees about wine and its responsible enjoyment.

Participation is a way for people to help Wichita's Guadalupe Health Foundation provide medical care for the city's needy families who are working, but can’t afford insurance. In the past twelve years, the Midwest Winefest has contributed over $1.8 million to the Guadalupe Health Foundation.

Thursday, April 24th
The 2008 Midwest Winefest kicks off with the Old Town Walkabout, a 17 stop food and wine sampling stroll through Wichita’s historic Old Town district. The Walkabout runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Check-in at the Old Town Farm & Art Market Plaza. All proceeds benefit the Guadalupe Health Foundation. A limited number of tickets will be sold.

Venues include City Arts featuring Accent Catering, Caffe Moderne, Club Indigo featuring Corporate Caterers, Courtyard by Marriott at Old Town featuring Larkspur Catering, Heroes Sports Bar, Kansas Sports Hall of Fame featuring Eurest Dining Services, Larkspur Restaurant and Grill, Liquid, Museum of World Treasurers, Oeno Wine bar, Playa Azul Mexican Restaurant, River City Brewery and Loft 150, Torres Pizza, The Brickyard, Oscar’s Sports Bart at the Warren Theater, Whiskey Creek Steakhouse, and Uptown Bistro. Friday, April 25th
Participate in various wine dinners around Wichita. All of the Winefest Wine Dinners begin at 7:00 p.m. All dinners are coat and tie. Dinners are: Palm Bay Imports presents the wines of Bertani at the Tallgrass Country Club, Negociants presents Yalumba Winery at Yia Yia’s, The Wines of Kobrand at the Wichita Marriott, Napa Cellars Winery at the Hilton Wichita Airport and Cosentino Winery at Larkspur. Saturday. April 26th
The Midwest Winefest continues with the Grand Tasting and Auctions in Century II Exhibition Hall. Now an evening event, attendees will sample from over 300 different wines, enjoy gourmet cuisine from Wichita’s finest restaurants, attend cooking with wine demonstrations and participate in silent auctions. Enjoy live Jazz music and browse wine-related. The fast-paced excitement of the live auction begins with the venerable wine auctioneer, Fritz Hatton.
